With the release of Chrome version 68 on July 24th, Google made another change to how is shows web pages that are not using the secure https connection.

If you’ve yet to make the move, you may be wondering about the associated costs of switching, and how much you could expect to pay.

The good news is, however, that SSL certificates are free through ‘let’s encrypt’. An SSL certificate is what you’ll need for the move from http to https. You can find out more about the free service here: https://letsencrypt.org/

Our recommended hosting company is Siteground, and here’s what they had to say about SSL certificates:

‘We care very much about the security of our clients that is why we offer free SSL certificates from Let’s Encrypt – and they are free for the lifetime for all of your domains, on all of our hosting accounts. They automatically renew themselves every 90 days so you never have to worry about the security of your site. The SSL’s come with the maximum level of encryption using 265-bit encryption and are trusted globally. These certificates guarantee you httpS connection in like 5 seconds. It’s super easy 🙂 They also offer WildCard SSL to cover domains and subdomains.’
